I was thinking

So, last night I got home and got myself some toast. I put the toast in the toaster and waited. I was impatient though and rushed the toast. I buttered it and sat down. As I was eating it though, it was just bread, the butter didn’t melt and it just tasted gross and I was rather upset because I wasn’t satisfied.

It got me thinking - this is just like what we do with life. I guess this post is about satisfaction, but having that natural human desire for the here and now. Rushing things.

When we want something, we bring it before God. But we aren’t ready to wait. We are impatient and we rush the process. We want it now, and when we get it now - its not the best possible outcome.

You see, God knows all. He is all knowing - omniscient. It says in Jeremiah 29:11…

“”For I know the plans I have for you,”declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”“

It also says in Acts 1:7…

“He said to them, “It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings or fixed years and seasons, which the Father has appointed by His own choice and personal power”

And in Hebrews 4:16…

“Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy  and find grace to help in good time for every need”

God is great in all seasons of life, and He only wants the very best for his dearly loved children. But as humans we do grow impatient and we want everything right in the instant. But, God is on a different watch to us, and we can’t rush that. God gives us what we need, not what we want. And he gives it to us in his timing, not ours.
